Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Senior Human Resources Generalist will provide expertise and hands-on support throughout the employee life cycle, leading or stewarding functional activities in areas such as employee relations, conflict resolution, policy development and interpretation, performance management, payroll and benefits administration, talent acquisition and management, and human resources data analysis. Using a high degree of emotional intelligence and critical thinking/decision-making skills, the Senior Human Resources Generalist will build, roll out, and drive HR programs to meet business needs. This position plays an important role in providing comprehensive HR support across the organization, contributing to the development and execution of HR practices, policies, and initiatives. The Senior Human Resources Generalist works in an effective and positive manner and champions a positive work culture that aligns with Marine Well Containment Company’s mission and values.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate, organize, and lead human resources projects
- Act as a resource to employees on human resources questions
- Identify process and system improvements and develop recommendations
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Support cross-business, continuous improvement, and projects wherever applicable such as organizational initiatives and people processes.
- Foster trusted relationships throughout the organization enabling an understanding of business and staff needs.
- Analyze organizational and HR trends to proactively identify relevant and impactful HR solutions.
- Steward, and deliver identified targeted solutions to achieve department goals.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies, and processes and drive consistent application throughout the organization.
- Ensure HR initiatives and processes stay in alignment with, and support business needs through tracking and reporting key activities and milestones to leadership.
- Assist in talent management efforts by identifying talent strengths and needs and collaborating with management.
- Assist with data maintenance and integrity of HR systems. Drive implementation or upgrading of new HR system modules as needed.
- Promote feedback from staff to inform the continuous improvement of HR services and processes.
- Develop, interpret, and recommend policies, guidelines, and appropriate procedures for implementation to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with regulations.
- Maintains employee handbook, including advising HR leadership of recommended edits based upon regulation changes.
- Serve as an HR point of contact for employees and build a positive working environment.
- Support employment separations, including documentation, communication, system processing, organizational implications, and safety and security concerns.
- Steward talent acquisition process, including partnering with management and other human resources team members to execute associated activities.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant laws and regulations applicable to the organization. Manage and deliver projects and recommendations requiring research and investigation into employment laws and regulations.
- Act as a resource to employees on matters such as benefits enrollment, performance management, recognition and rewards, and policy administration.
- Support the General Manager of Human Resources with execution of the compensation strategy.
- Partner with the Training Lead, as needed, for the development and delivery of staff training and education.
- Manage third-party account team in the areas of benefits and payroll administration.
- When appropriate my lead engagement discussions, service quality & problem resolution with outside vendors on HR services; may also review contracts for interpretation and revisions
- Identify HR system improvements and enhancements; analyze and recommend process enhancements and task automation where possible.
Response Specific Responsibilities (HR Support)
Below are the responsibilities for this position related to and during the timeframe MWCC is activated to respond to a well control incident in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
- Work as a member of the MWCC Emergency Response Organization on an as needed basis in the event of activation, or preparations/drills for same, in response to a well control incident and perform job duties commensurate with your assigned role.
- Participate, as required, in Incident Management Team (IMT) trainings and drills.
- During an incident response, transition to HR Support role and provide human resources support and assistance to 24/7 workforce on 12-hour shifts. Primarily supporting the dayshift with the potential for nightshift support when necessary.
General Background, Qualifications, & Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, business or a related field of study; Master’s degree, preferred
- At least 10 years of Human Resources experience, consisting of responsibilities in several disciplines such as recruitment, benefits and compensation administration, training/development, and employee performance. Working knowledge of HR in the Oil and Gas industry is a plus
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification, preferred
- High level of confidentiality.
